About Fine Art and Photographic Prints

At workART, we have a dream...

to make beautiful works of art affordable to everyone...

giclee prints

The Giclee print process is a wonder of modern technology - and has made our dream possible. Giclee (pronounced "zhee-CLAY") prints have the unrivaled ability to reproduce hues and tones – thereby ensuring that your print is reproduced in exceptional detail and vivid colour.

inks and permanence

Our prints are created on state of the art printers, utilising archival inks, which are highly resistant to UV light. The most conservative estimates regarding lightfastness start at 30 years. However, tests have shown that a giclee print can last for 75 years, before it starts to lose tonality.

Permanence will vary according to conditions such as: the paper or surface that the image is printed on; the conditions under which your image is displayed; the exposure to light intensity, humidity etc

care for your prints

Proper care of your print will maximise its display life. We recommend that your prints are displayed indoors, under glass or acrylic (which will protect them from atmospheric contaminants). All prints should be kept out of direct sunlight.

paper & canvas

The default paper setting for your print is set to 260g Photographic Lustre paper. This is a high quality true photo paper and is suitable for prints that are intended to be placed in a domestic or corporate environment. The photographic lustre paper is also available in high gloss. (However, if you are going to frame your print, we recommend that you do not use a high gloss finish as this exaggerates the reflection of the glass.) There are also a number of fine art, museum-quality papers to choose from – and well as canvas.

exhibition-quality, archival prints

If you require exhibition-quality, archival prints, please take the following steps when placing your order:

Only select papers or canvas from our "Fine Art" Range in the drop down menu. All our Fine Art surfaces are acid free.

Only select mountboards from the "Museum" Range at the far right hand side of the Mountboard scroll bars. These mountboards are 100% acid free.

print size

All our prints are available in different sizes, ranging from Small to XX Large reflecting A4 through to A0. The framed size will vary depending on: your print size selection, your choice of frame and your mountboard size adjustments. Please double check your available wall space, to ensure that you have chosen the appropriate print size.
